A structure that resembles JEJU's sturdy yet gentle volcanic cones
Kengo Kuma, a world-renowned Japanese architect who stands shoulder-to-shoulder with greats such as Tadao Ando and Toyo Ito, embodies his own world of architecture that reflects the locality and material properties of the region. The roofs of the villas in Block D at ARTVILLAS are covered with basalt, reflecting the unique properties of JEJU as a basalt-rich volcanic island. Block D is designed as a cul-de-sac, with the villas collectively forming the shape of a columnar joint formation, organically linking the structures, nature and people within.
